JUXTAPOSITION

What the heck does juxtaposition mean? Some Judges love to use fancy words to sound impressive but to many a beginner in photography, they may not have a clue what this means. Better to simply refer to the placement of objects within a photograph and the ovarall balance of a photograph. Much better to call a spade a spade.

Note the position of the winch in the foreground and the house on the hill. With the shape of the land and the moody sky we end up with what I think is a balanced photo. I could have said "The juxtaposition of the house and winch ........" but as I said, I tend to call a spade a spade in most cases.
