DYNAMIC RANGE

The dynamic range is the contrast ratio between the darkest and brightest tones that a camera or phone can capture in a single exposure. Dynamic range is measured in stops. Smartphones are often designed to have an effective higher dynamic range than some cameras.

TOP TIP Camera and phone technology is advancing year on year and the dynamic range in some cameras is very good but at the time of writing (2022), the eye/brain combination cannot be beaten. Use my EB method to increse the effective dynamic range where necessary.

Higher dyamic range achieved by my EB method

A higher effective dynnamic range achieved by HDR, my EB method and exposure blending. Extra work, hard work but it won me a digital camera plus £500 in a Scotsman-Capture Winter Competition in the early 2000's. You must remember, much of my work and techniques were pretty advanced for the late 90's and early 2000's. This may not always be the case.
