DIAPHRAM

Diaphragm In Photography

A diaphragm is the part within a lens that consists of overlapping metal blades that open and close to change the size of the opening that allows different levels of light to pass through to the sensor and so controls the aperture (or F-number) and depth of field of an image.

TOP TIP A diaphram is often referred to as the aperture often called the F-Number of a camera or lens or smartphone. Don't get too bogged down with terminology, it basically controls the amount of light reaching a sensor.
