PHOTOGRAPHY EXPOSED

BLENDING

Have you ever pointed your camera at a nice landscape, only to take the photo and the sky is a bit washed out (photo 1)? You take the same photo but this time, you include a bit more sky in the frame hoping to influence the meter in the camera to record more detail in the sky (photo 2). Disappointed, the sky is better but the land area is now a bit under-exposed. Ideally, you want a good sky (photo 2) combined with a properly exposed land section (photo 1, the result of two photos. One answer is to blend the two photos together.

One for you experienced photographers. Beginners - ignore blending. Blending, for an experienced photographer, is part of the secret to success.

TOP TIP Use blending in the extreme bracketing process or the production of composite images for example. I'll cover blending with free software in depth under paint.net but for now, just appreciate the examples.

At every angle.
